He and Roger have faced off numerous times before in this part of the season. The latest of their encounters was this past week in Basel, which was Roger’s second tournament after the US Open. The two of them always play fantastic matches against one another, and Roger got the better of David in The Swiss Indoor tournament winning the final 6-3, 6-4. This is Roger’s 57th career title, and Roger fans hope there are still plenty more to come.

Congratulation to Roger on a great week of tennis!

I have been slacking as of late with regards to keeping up with posts. However, Roger has not been active after his win at the US Open, and I didn’t have anything to write about.

The latest Roger news is that he withdrew from the tournament in Stockholm because he doesn’t want to wear himself thin.

I need to get a proper rest and get strong again so that I am 100% fit for the remainder of the year or next year. At this point, I am not sure when I will be ready to play again, but I hope to be back at some point before the end of the year.

Those were the words Roger spoke about his withdrawal. I think that is very understandable considering the hardships that plagued Roger during the 2008 season. I would rather see Roger playing fewer tournaments at a higher level than having him play more tournaments and watching him struggle.

I wish Roger all the best in indoor season, and hopefully he start his bid for number one with a bang.

Congratulations to Roger on winning his thirteenth Grand Slam and fifth straight US Open! This victory makes Roger the only person in tennis history to have won five consecutive Grand Slams and two different events.

I think this one is of the more special victories because Roger is having a sub par season compared to years past. He’s struggled in tournaments to find his game, and as a result, his results haven’t been Federer-like. However, winning the gold in Beijing in doubles brought back that enthusiasm and drive.

It was a dominant performance by Roger who looked like his old self, and it was also an entertaining match to watch if you’re a Roger fan. He was attacking the net more so than he normally does, and the timing of his forehand was there. The shot making was awesome. The final score was 6-2, 7-4, 6-2.

Congratulations to Andy for a great US Open; he played beautiful tennis to get into the finals. I’m sure we’ll see much more of Andy making runs for Grand Slams titles.

Quarterfinals
Roger lost 4-6, 6-7(4) to James Blakes who had only won one set in their previous encounters. It has been a tough year for Roger, and to put salt on the wound, he’ll lose his number one ranking come Monday morning. However, it’s still a pleasure to watch the man play. Can’t wait for the US Open.

Round 3
“Yes!” - that is what Roger cried out after defeating Berdych 6-3, 7-6(4). I’m sure it was a great feeling for Roger, and he has earned himself a spot in the quarterfinals without dropping a set. Roger will either face James Blake or Gilles Simon. Both will be a test for our man.

Round 2
Roger has set himself up for redemption and will face Thomas Berdych in the third round with his win over Rafael Arevalo 6-2, 6-4. Thomas beat Roger in Athens four years ago. It should be an exciting match to watch.

Round 1
Roger had a great straight sets victory over Dmitry Tursunov 6-4, 6-2. Also, Roger and Stan Wawrinka won their opening doubles match in straight sets, which is a bonus for Roger as he rarely ever plays doubles in a competition.

Rock on.

What exciting day it must have been.

Roger will face Russian Dmitry Tursunov in his first round match. This is Roger’s third Olympic games, and it be so sweet to bring home the gold amid the lows Roger has endured this season.

Roger kindly thanked all his fans for their support on his site;

I also want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your unconditional support. I love to come to my website and find you all discussing the future, the present and also the past. Your interest in all different topics around me, tennis and sports in general is fascinating. Thank you for all the time so many of you have invested in writing me messages, letters and cards and making me special gifts. This means a great deal to me and it fills me with pride to have so many of you thinking of me.

It just shows that he doesn’t take it for granted, which is awesome to see from a super star of his status.

I want to wish Roger the best of luck in Beijing!
