He’ll Live: and so will we.

2007_10_20_photo1.jpgAfter not playing a tournament for six weeks, since the US Open, Roger lost in the finals to David Nalbandian of Madrid, 6-1, 3-6, 3-6. That brings Roger’s final record to 6-4 for the 2007 season. Unfortunately I was not able to watch the match, but from what I have read, it seems that David really pushed Roger, which is very hard to do.

The 25th-ranked Argentine stretched Federer across the court with a variety of groundstrokes, forcing the defending champion to make 38 unforced errors.

As a fan, there’s nothing that frustrates me more than watching or hearing about Roger losing matches, especially finals, because I have become so spoiled over the past three and a half years. However, without losing once in awhile, winning wouldn’t be so sweet. Every year, tournaments are becoming harder and harder to win with all the young talent coming up; so I think that as Roger’s career progresses, we will see him focus more on the grandslams than the lower tier tournaments.

We will see Roger next in his native town of Basel, at the Davidoff Swiss Indoors, where Roger will try to defend his title.
