It was a special night in New York! Congratulations to Roger on his 4th consecutive US Open title (12th Grand Slam). It was a hard fought battle until the end. Novak Djokovic provided Roger with an enormous challenge. This was truly a dream final…with the two best hardcourt players in it.

Roger didn’t seem to be his normal self in the early goings of the match (the first 2 sets). Getting broken early in each of those first couple of sets, Roger put a lot of pressure on himself, but he answered back with breaks of his own. The serve was also a crucial part of Roger’s success with those 0-40 games. It was evidence that Novak was nervous in those pressure situation, not converting on any of him seven set points. It was a very exciting and competitive match to watch.

Congratulations to Novak who will see many, many more slam finals, and also congratulations to Justine Henin of her US Open title!
