First we thought that Andy Roddick vs Roger was going to be the big rivalry that tennis needed. Unfortunately for Andy, Roger always plays his best and comes out on top. So that’s not much of a rivalry (no offense of Andy because he’s great tennis player), but they always put on a great match! On the other hand, Rafa and Roger is turning out to be the rivalry that puts both Roger fans and Rafa fans on the edge of their seats.
As a Roger fans, I hate to say this, but Rafa is the most dominate player on clay. However, it’s fun to root for Roger when he plays Rafa on clay because Roger is the underdog (it’s also frustrating to watch Roger lose). It also makes the schedule the two play exciting because Rafa gets the advantage on clay, but when it comes to Wimbledon and the summer hard court season, that’s Rogers house.
Though Roger lost the final in Monte Carlo, it’s great to see Roger getting back into in usual winning ways. This sets up the possible final at Roland Garros, and what better stage to put an end to Rafa’s streak on clay than at the French Open.
