For the past few seasons it seems that David Nalbandian really turns up his play during the indoor season. He and Roger have faced off numerous times before in this part of the season. The latest of their encounters was this past week in Basel, which was Roger’s second tournament after the US Open. The two of them always play fantastic matches against one another, and Roger got the better of David in The Swiss Indoor tournament winning the final 6-3, 6-4. This is Roger’s 57th career title, and Roger fans hope there are still plenty more to come.
Congratulation to Roger on a great week of tennis!

I have been slacking as of late with regards to keeping up with posts. However, Roger has not been active after his win at the US Open, and I didn’t have anything to write about.
The latest Roger news is that he withdrew from the tournament in Stockholm because he doesn’t want to wear himself thin.
I need to get a proper rest and get strong again so that I am 100% fit for the remainder of the year or next year. At this point, I am not sure when I will be ready to play again, but I hope to be back at some point before the end of the year.
Those were the words Roger spoke about his withdrawal. I think that is very understandable considering the hardships that plagued Roger during the 2008 season. I would rather see Roger playing fewer tournaments at a higher level than having him play more tournaments and watching him struggle.
I wish Roger all the best in indoor season, and hopefully he start his bid for number one with a bang.

Congratulations to Roger on winning his thirteenth Grand Slam and fifth straight US Open! This victory makes Roger the only person in tennis history to have won five consecutive Grand Slams and two different events.
I think this one is of the more special victories because Roger is having a sub par season compared to years past. He’s struggled in tournaments to find his game, and as a result, his results haven’t been Federer-like. However, winning the gold in Beijing in doubles brought back that enthusiasm and drive.
It was a dominant performance by Roger who looked like his old self, and it was also an entertaining match to watch if you’re a Roger fan. He was attacking the net more so than he normally does, and the timing of his forehand was there. The shot making was awesome. The final score was 6-2, 7-4, 6-2.
Congratulations to Andy for a great US Open; he played beautiful tennis to get into the finals. I’m sure we’ll see much more of Andy making runs for Grand Slams titles.

After a long, tough match to move past Gilles Muller, 7-6 (5), 6-4, 7-6 (5), Roger will face Mr. Djokovic in the semifinals. Djokovic himself had a tough semi filled with demanding tennis and verbal jousting. Roger seems to be in better physical condition as Novak admitted that he’s been struggling physically throughout the tournament.
It should be a very exciting match, and hopefully Roger will come out on top and move one step closer to defending his title.

Roger has yet to drop a set in first three rounds, and he looks to be in great form as he prepares to take on Igor Andreev for a spot in the quarterfinals. It should be an exciting match as Igor has a monster forehand that could give Roger trouble.

A sharply attired Roger moved in the second round in a comfortable manner. He steam rolled Maximo Gonzalez 6-3, 6-0, 6-3.
This is the first tournament in four and a half years that Roger has had something other than a “1″ next to his name, and I think and hope that will act as a motivating factor. One match at a time.
